Where your data lives
Your events, expenses, people and the details of how to pay each person (such as a bank name and account number) are stored on your iPhone. There is no account and no sign-in. Unless you share an event with a group (see "Sharing an event with a group" below), we never receive your data and cannot see it.
iCloud sync
If you turn on iCloud sync, the same data is kept in your own private iCloud storage so that your other devices can read it. It is protected by your Apple Account, and we have no access to it.
No analytics, advertising or tracking
The app contains no analytics, advertising or tracking software and no third-party SDKs. We do not sell or share your data.
Payment QR codes
A VietQR code is drawn on your iPhone from the details you entered. Nothing is sent anywhere to create it.
Camera and photos
If you add a photo to an expense, the app asks for camera access or lets you pick a photo. Photos stay in the app's storage on your iPhone. When you save a settle-up image, the app asks for permission to add it to your photo library. The app does not read the rest of your library.
Purchases
Splitpad Pro is a one-time purchase processed by Apple. We receive no payment details. Restoring purchases also happens through Apple.
Sharing a summary
When you share a settle-up image, message or table, it goes only where you choose to send it through the iOS share sheet.
Sharing an event with a group
If you tap "Invite the group" on an event, the app sends that event to a small server we run on Cloudflare, so that each person in the group can add what they paid from their own phone. Everything about the event (its name, people, expenses and each person's payment details) is encrypted on your iPhone before it is sent, with a key that exists only in the invite link and on the phones of the people who joined. The part of the link after "#" is never sent to any server, including ours. We cannot read the event.
The server does see which shared events exist under a random identifier, how many encrypted records each holds, their sizes and when they changed, and, as with any website, the IP address of each connection, which Cloudflare also processes. There is no account: members are only names inside the event.
Anyone who has the invite link can read and edit the event, so send it only to the group. When you take someone off the event, the app moves it to a new link; what the person already had on their phone stays there.
The server deletes an event when its organiser stops sharing it, and in any case 90 days after its last change. Each member's phone keeps its own copy. Joining a shared event is free and needs no purchase.
Deleting your data
You can delete expenses and events inside the app. If you shared an event and you are its organiser, deleting it or tapping "Stop sharing" also deletes its copy on our server. Deleting the app deletes its data from your iPhone. If iCloud sync was on, remove the copy in iOS Settings under your Apple Account › iCloud › Manage Account Storage.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13.
